Ebonyi airport now only used for Church midweek, Sunday services – Otu

The spokesperson for the Ebonyi Civil Society Coalition Group, Charles Otu, has alleged that the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport in Ebonyi State is now being used as a worship centre by a church.

Otu said that aside from private chartered flights allegedly used by Governor Francis Nwifuru and his wife, no commercial flights currently operate from the airport.

He made the claims while fielding questions on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday.

“It is good you remembered the airport because I would have forgotten it,” Otu said.

“A church has taken over that airport and is using that airport for Sunday and midweek services. The airport has become a worship centre.

“As we speak, if you doubt, we are going to forward the videos to you because we saw the video trend online some time ago that apart from private chartered flights, which land the governor and the wife at public costs, no other private individual, no other flight, no commercial flight is landing on that airport.”

Otu described the alleged use of the facility for church services as unfortunate, insisting that this reflected the current state of operations at the airport.

“A church has ingloriously, unfortunately, shamelessly, I mean, I don’t know how to describe it, taken over that airport and is using that airport for church service, as we speak. That is the correct state of affairs in that airport,” he added.
