There has been a lot of pessimism about the Philadelphia Eagles recently, and heading into Week 6, there seems to finally be some hope for this heavily injured team.
While the status of Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith is still up in the air, the Eagles are getting some good news on four other players currently sidelined due to injury.
The Eagles announced Wednesday that four players were having their practice windows opened, as a lot of key players might be back on the field very soon for the Eagles.
Eagles announce great news on four key injured players ahead of Week 6
“We have opened the practice windows of the following players: DB Jakorian Bennett, TE Grant Calcaterra, G Landon Dickerson, and TE Eli Stowers. We are also signing DB Dean Clark to the Practice Squad,” the Eagles announced.
This is some massive news for the Eagles for a few reasons. The biggest of these practice windows being opened is obviously starting left guard Landon Dickerson.
He struggled through an injury in Week 1, but now he might be back for the Eagles’ offensive line in the near future. With Cam Jurgens traded and Lane Johnson retired, getting Dickerson back would be a huge boost for this depleted offensive line.
Jakorian Bennett being activated is also some good news, as he can provide some quality defensive back depth for an Eagles’ secondary that was recently tested with their depth in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Rams.

But the most intriguing moves are those of Eli Stowers and Grant Calcaterra. The veteran Calcaterra could be a nice depth piece in the tight end room, though his blocking has been suspect, and he’s more of a receiving threat.
The same can be said about rookie second-round tight end Stowers, who has not made his NFL debut just yet.
While he might be a minimal factor in the passing attack, having a good pass-catching tight end is something this offense does lack outside of Dallas Goedert. Zack Ertz is fine, but he’s much older and lacks the same juice he did in his early days with the Eagles.
This list of players having their practice windows opened is a huge help, even if not all are coming back in Week 6.
Just having their windows opened gives the Eagles some hope that they’re going to get healthier, which has been an issue through the first month of the season.
