The Chargers picked a bad season to take a huge step back under Jim Harbaugh.
The Raiders are better, the Broncos are worse but still fine enough, and the Chiefs are back to being the Chiefs.
If the Chargers were still in 2024 form, they could probably still fight for the division, but we all know the form they’re in right now and it’s ugly.
The Chiefs are once again a top offense in the NFL combined with a really good defense, as well. It also doesn’t help that Patrick Mahomes now has what could be the best run game he’s ever had. Now there’s no side of the offense you can focus on. They’ll beat you either way.
On the other side, the Bolts are horrendous at passing the football while actually owning a top-10 run game. But that’s not likely to be enough to compete against Mahomes and Co.
I don’t know what’s in store for the Chargers this week and it’s likely the offense trots out three to four rookies once again. As long as that’s the case, I’m not sure anyone should expect anything but abysmal play and another loss in the column.
Here’s how these two teams stack up this week on paper.
