It is easy to see why the San Antonio Spurs are the most promising team ahead of the 2026-27 season. They have three budding young talents, with Victor Wembanyama as the biggest star.

However, Stephon Castle will continue to shine in his third year by being more decisive and efficient. The last member of that promising trio is Dylan Harper, who will want to keep building on his success, especially with his perimeter shooting.

Dylan Harper wants to keep improving on offense with his improved jumper

During his rookie season, Harper separated himself from the rest of the league with his natural ability to get to the rim. He has a tremendous first step, plus the athleticism and finishing ability to back it up.

That paid off in the 2026 Playoffs because he became the Spurs‘ go-to guy in certain possessions. Of course, he can’t drive to the hoop every time, so he wants to improve as a shooter so he can be even more dangerous.

Harper has shown that he can be more aggressive, which will help him become an elite slasher. However, he is not satisfied with just one part of his game; he also wants to be a better shooter, so he can diversify his play style and help the team stretch the floor.

“Very confident. I feel like I’ve worked at it all summer, so there’s no reason for me to be hesitant; there’s no reason for me to pull back. The biggest thing is just taking the right shots at the right time,” Harper said about how he feels about his perimeter shooting.

Harper shot 34.3% from beyond the arc during his rookie year. He was still quite inefficient with a 33.3% clip from distance in the Playoffs, so he made sure to improve on that part of his game.

Moving forward, he can become one of the league’s most dangerous offensive players with this renewed focus on his perimeter shooting. It will be challenging, but it seems he is ready for the challenge.
