Dungeon Crawler Carl Officially Switches Genres In $12,350 New Release

· · 3 min read

Dungeon Crawler Carl is entering an exciting new era ahead of Matt Dinniman’s Book 9 release, currently titled The Beautiful Place and expected to release in two separate volumes in the coming months. In case you missed it, Dinniman just released Chapters 3–5 on the Patreon account as well as an Interlude chapter, revealing a fresh teaser for what’s to come in the finale. However, before we head to the twelfth floor in Book 9, there are several new releases slated before the end of 2026.

For starters, there’s a new Deluxe Edition of the first book coming out on November 17, featuring brand-new fancy artwork and an exclusive Q&A between Princess Donut and Dinniman. After that, the highly anticipated DCC RPG and the Unstoppable deck-building game are expected to hit retail on November 23.

However, if you’ve got deep pockets or an extra $12,350 laying around, there’s an absolutely amazing new Dungeon Crawler Carl release arriving in November that takes the franchise into a completely new genre, and Crawlers will want to mark their calendars now.

Dungeon Crawler Carl has seen an explosion of new merch and adaptations in recent months, but its latest release might be its most unexpected and expensive one yet. Matt Dinniman’s wildly popular LitRPG series is officially getting its own full-sized pinball machine, courtesy of manufacturer Multimorphic, and it’s shaping up to be an incredibly elaborate tribute to Carl, Princess Donut, and the World Dungeon.

Originally unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, the Dungeon Crawler Carl pinball machine is currently available to preorder through retailers like Flip N Out Pinball, with production expected in 2027.

Built using Multimorphic’s innovative P3 pinball platform, the machine incorporates traditional pinball mechanics with digital gameplay elements, putting players up close and personal with some of the Dungeon Crawler World’s most famous characters and enemies. Players “assume the role” of Carl, accompanied by Princess Donut, as they work through a pinball version of fighting mobs, defeating bosses, casting spells, collecting loot, etc.

The experience draws extensively from the first seven books, incorporating different gameplay rules and objectives that reflect the series’ various dungeon floors. Players can also visit safe rooms, open loot boxes, and build their viewer count, faithfully recreating some of the franchise’s most famous mechanics.

The machine itself is packed with references, including a Princess Donut magnetic ball lock, a little baby Mongo, the Desperado Club, a Samanth head, the Twister house, and loads more. Artwork comes courtesy of Luciano Fleitas, who illustrated the books’ covers, alongside Brad Albright. Perhaps most excitingly, audiobook narrator Jeff Hays provides the voice acting, with both previously recorded dialogue and brand-new lines created specifically for the game.

There’s even an optional profanity filter, although longtime Dungeon Crawler Carl readers will probably want the full, uncensored experience.

Unfortunately, owning one won’t come cheap. The complete machine costs $12,350, with Flip N Out Pinball currently accepting a nonrefundable $2,500 deposit. Shipping adds another $350–$700, depending on location, with the retailer’s latest advertised production window falling between Q2 and Q3 2027.

While the price tag on this one might be absolutely absurd for your average DCC fan, it’s the going rate for pinball machines and is won’t be all that surprising if you’re a local pinball joint or arcade owner. Dedicated collectors/business owners who already own a compatible Multimorphic P3 machine can also purchase the standalone game kit for $5,250.

With the franchise expanding into tabletop gaming, collectibles, and television, this ambitious pinball adaptation is another indication of just how far Dungeon Crawler Carl has come from its humble self-pub beginnings. Even if most fans will never own one, there’s something undeniably appealing about the prospect of stumbling across Carl and Donut at a local arcade.
