Dropped on 0 and 1, Devdutt Padikkal makes Sri Lanka pay with another century in Colombo

Devdutt Padikkal continued his excellent run against Sri Lanka, scoring another century in the ongoing two-match Test series. After making 167 in the opening Test in Galle, the elegant left-hander hit another hundred on the first day of the second Test in Colombo.

Padikkal reaches another century

Padikkal, who was batting on 91, needed only a few deliveries to reach three figures.

He hit Prabath Jayasuriya for two consecutive boundaries before taking a single to complete his century.

The hundred is Padikkal’s second century in Test cricket.

After reaching the milestone, Padikkal removed his helmet as his teammates in the dressing room applauded his effort.

Sri Lanka pay for missed chances

Padikkal was given two early reprieves in his innings. He was dropped on 0 and 1, but made Sri Lanka pay for those missed opportunities.

The century comes after his impressive 167 in Galle, where India beat Sri Lanka by 165 runs in the opening Test.
