Angel Reese wasted no time making an impact on Thursday’s WNBA game against the Los Angeles Sparks.
The Atlanta Dream star opened the matchup against the matchup with a perfect shooting performance. Reese scored 18 points on 8-for-8 shooting in the first half. Her hot start helped Atlanta build a 10-0 run.
Reese attacked the basket with confidence. She finished through contact and converted her early opportunities. Her perfect shooting also gave the Dream another major offensive option alongside Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray. She shot a 2-of-2 from beyond the arc.
The LSU alum has also continued to dominate the glass. She has established herself as one of the league’s best rebounders.
The No. 7 pick of the 2024 draft has shown that she can impact games without relying solely on scoring. She rebounds at an elite level and creates second chances. Reese also defends with energy and brings physicality to Atlanta’s frontcourt.

Reese surpassed her previous rebounding mark.
The Dream forward added another historic achievement to her résumé. Reese has grabbed 173 offensive rebounds this year, giving her the most in a single WNBA season.
The Maryland native set the previous mark with 172 in her rookie campaign while playing for the Chicago Sky. She needed just one more offensive board to reclaim the record on Thursday.
Reese does not simply wait for rebounds to come to her. She fights for position and tracks the ball by using her strength to beat defenders.
The WNBA has already recognized Reese as one of its premier rebounders. She led the league in rebounds per game in each of her first two seasons. She is averaging 12.0 rebounds in 2026.
