“Bro, I went to golf with Steph one time. He’s incredible. He could real deal possibly be a professional golfer. He can definitely be a golf pro, no question. I think Steph could [go pro in three years],” Green said.
He added, “And by the way, I don’t take the sport for granted. I know how hard it is. So I don’t want to disrespect those guys. Just like I hate when people say, ‘Yo, he could, or I could play in the NBA.’
“Like, bro, no you can’t. That’s not a realistic thing for you. Shut up.”
Green’s warning against disrespecting golfers mattered. He was not pretending that Curry could casually walk onto the PGA Tour, he was saying Curry’s skill is high enough to make the idea worth discussing.
Curry already has a serious golf resume for a basketball player. He won the 2023 American Century Championship with a walk-off eagle and has played well enough for his handicap to sit around scratch or better.

“So take what I’m saying with a grain of salt. I don’t want to disrespect those guys. But I golfed with Steph at Cal Club. It’s not like some crazy simple course,” Green continued.
“He didn’t get a bogey till the ninth. He didn’t miss a single shot until the ninth or tenth hole. It was like par, par, birdie, par, birdie. He’s incredible,” he concluded.
That kind of consistency explains why people take Curry’s golf ambitions more seriously than most celebrity-athlete crossover talk. His touch, balance, competitive patience, and ability to repeat mechanics all translate well to the course.
The PGA Tour is still a different level, and Curry’s past Korn Ferry Tour sponsor exemptions showed how massive the gap can be. Green’s point is that Curry is not a normal famous athlete with a hobby; he is good enough to make the question interesting.
