The 2026 Boston Red Sox have gone from one of MLB‘s biggest disappointments to arguably its hottest team. After spending much of the first half of the season in last place, Boston caught fire with a remarkable 15-game winning streak, tying the longest streak in franchise history and vaulting itself back into the American League playoff race.
Although the streak ended on Wednesday night, the incredible turnaround prompted DraftKings to look back at the longest winning streaks in Major League Baseball since the start of the 21st century.

According to DraftKings, these are the longest winning streaks in MLB this century:
- 22 games – Cleveland Guardians (2017)
- 20 games – Oakland Athletics (2002)
17 games – St. Louis Cardinals (2021)

14 games – Cleveland Guardians (2016)
14 games – Atlanta Braves (2013)

Few teams have experienced a midseason transformation quite like the 2026 Red Sox.
Just three weeks ago, Boston found itself buried in the American League standings after a miserable start to the season. Since then, everything has clicked. The offense has come alive, the pitching staff has consistently delivered quality outings, and the club has piled up victories at an incredible pace.
The streak has not only tied the franchise record set in 1946, but it has also turned Boston from a last-place team into a legitimate postseason contender.

While Boston’s run has been extraordinary, the 2017 Guardians remain the gold standard of this century with a 22-game winning streak that helped carry Cleveland to another division title.
The famous 2002 Athletics, immortalized by the “Moneyball” era, sit second with 20 straight victories, while the 2021 Cardinals used a 17-game streak to storm into the National League playoffs.
The list also highlights how difficult sustained winning streaks truly are. Since 2000, only three teams have managed to win at least 17 consecutive games, while a 14-game streak has been accomplished by just a handful of clubs.
For a team that looked destined for a lost season, the 2026 Red Sox have become one of baseball’s best stories—and their historic winning streak is proof that fortunes can change in a hurry.
