Domestic battery case against Marcellus Wiley dropped

A month after being arrested on domestic battery charges, the case against former Fox Sports host Marcellus Wiley has been dropped.

TMZ was the first to report that prosecutors in Orange County, Florida, would not pursue the case brought by Wiley’s now ex-wife, Annemarie. According to court documents, the case is not moving forward because “testimonial evidence received is not corroborated by any physical or other evidence and is therefore insufficient to obtain a conviction.”

Wiley was initially arrested after an encounter with his wife at the World Marriott in Orlando, where she told officers that she felt threatened by him. Although she did not show signs of injury, officers found there was probable cause that he touched his wife against her will and made the arrest.

The former NFL star and radio host then went on his platforms and vehemently denied the accusations. And in the end, prosecutors found that there was not a case to be pursued.

On Tuesday morning after the report became public, Marcellus Wiley went live on his YouTube channel to celebrate his exoneration in this case with the caption, “Marcellus Wiley is Innocent! Prosecutors Drop DV Case-Charges Dismissed #MenToo.

In the video, Wiley talked about the importance of his name and reputation and what it means to his children, especially in the internet age where these headlines can last forever. However, this is not the only serious situation that Wiley is facing this year in that regard.

He is also facing another case where four women have accused him of sexual assault, including a former ESPN production assistant. The claims stretch back to the time when he was a collegiate star at Columbia University.  Wiley also strongly denied those allegations in a separate YouTube video. However, that case has yet to be resolved.
