To say that Kyle Tucker has underperformed in his first season with the Los Angeles Dodgers would be a massive understatement. He entered the Dodgers’ Friday night clash against the Miami Marlins with an OPS of .684 on the season. This was certainly not what the Dodgers expected to get from Tucker after they signed him to a four-year, $240 million contract.

But Tucker’s play is perking up as of late. Over his past two games, he’s gone 6-8 from the plate, including a 3-3 night on Friday in a 6-2 win over the Miami Marlins. Not only was Tucker perfect from the plate on Friday, he also drove in five runs, including four in just one swing in the seventh inning when he hit his first grand slam in Dodger Blue.

For as much excitement as there is over Tucker’s uptick in play, the Dodgers right fielder is trying to keep a level head as he tries to end the 2026 MLB regular season on a high note.

“Just trying to do my job and do my part. Put together some good at-bats to try and put the barrel on the ball. So worked out well tonight, we’ll take the win,” Tucker told Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA.

“Just trying to do my job and do my part.”

Tucker went through a nasty hitless slump back in August that reached seven games. During that span, he went 0-26 from the plate, and Dodgers fans began to turn on him.

But Tucker, prior to signing with the Dodgers, had a career OPS of .865. It’s hard to imagine that, at just 29 years of age, Tucker suddenly lost what made him one of the best and most consistent all-around outfielders in MLB.

His struggles in Dodger Stadium this year have been well-documented, and he’s going to have to remedy that if he were to get back to old ways during his time in LA. And as the past few games have shown, there very well appears to be plenty of hope for Tucker as far as a complete turnaround is concerned.
