Dodgers Keep Same Players, Change Batting Order in Bounce Back Opportunity

The Los Angeles Dodgers will keep the same players in the lineup from their 7-6 loss to the Seattle Mariners in the second game of the series Wednesday.

The Dodgers put up a good fight despite the loss, generating 13 hits and crushing multiple home runs during the losing effort. Unfortunately, the game got away from them in the later innings after Dominic Canzone hit his second homer of the night to make the difference for the Mariners.

The Dodgers are sending out another left-hander for the Mariners on Wednesday, as Eric Lauer will make the start. Lauer, a waiver pickup from the Toronto Blue Jays, has been fantastic since his arrival, posting a 3.35 ERA through eight starts—none of which have resulted in Dodgers losses.

His last outing—while not pretty—got the job done against the Philadelphia Phillies, as he allowed three runs in 5.1 innings pitched.

Even though the Dodgers changed their lineup, there was never any doubt Shohei Ohtani would still be leading the line. Andy Pages remains in center field and bats behind him, and first baseman Freddie Freeman occupies the No. 3 hole.

Third baseman Max Muncy is hitting cleanup, with shortstop Mookie Betts in the No. 5 hole. Tommy Edman remains as the second baseman and will bat sixth, just ahead of right fielder Kyle Tucker. Left fielder Teoscar Hernández bats eighth, and Dalton Rushing is calling pitches while batting ninth.

Right-hander Emerson Hancock will toe the slab for the Mariners, looking to improve upon his impressive season so far. He has a 3.16 ERA through 19 starts this year, and has struck out 97 batters. His strong season has made him a prime trade target across the league.

The Dodgers will look to carry the power they showed in Tuesday’s game into Wednesday’s matchup, as they look to force a rubber match on Thursday.
