At this point, the MLB trade deadline is days away, and much of the talk around the Dodgers is about their pitching.

They have two pitchers on the injured list, Tyler Glasnow and Blake Snell, while Shohei Ohtani has stopped pitching for the time being.

With the uncertainty and the biggest name on the market being Tarik Skubal, the Dodgers are obviously a team to watch in trade talks, but LA might have just gained a ton of leverage.

Glasnow, one of their injured pitchers, is nursing a back issue related to his height. He has back spasms, something that has bothered him since his teenage years.

The tall righty has been out since May, and during his time on the injured list, he has tried to ramp up, but Glasnow failed to get going beyond some throwing.

The Dodgers shut him down in hopes that it would help, and it has proven to be the case.

He is now pitching his second live batting session on Wednesday, July 29th, and Glasnow will possibly be heading out on a rehab assignment shortly after if he responds well.

This is the closest that Glasnow has been to returning since he was first injured, marking a truly massive turn of events for the Dodgers ahead of the deadline.

The Dodgers have less pressure to deal for Skubal now.

Multiple reports were already circulating that the Dodgers felt quite good on the pitching front in terms of getting their starters healthy, but Glasnow starting a rehab assignment would quell any worries at all.

It is still unclear whether the Tigers will even trade Skubal, but if they do, Detroit cannot point to Glasnow as a reason the Dodgers need him.
