Dodgers Field Strongest Lineup For Opener vs. Mariners

The Los Angeles Dodgers set their lineup for their first home game of the second half in a three-game series against the Seattle Mariners.

The Dodgers began the period following the All-Star break with three series on the East Coast, winning all three, but sweeping none. They lost their last matchup, which came Sunday against the New York Mets. The offense struggled to push runs across, allowing the Mets to score seven unanswered runs to complete a comeback and avoid a sweep.

Justin Wrobleski starts for the Dodgers, looking to add another strong start to his fantastic season so far. He has made 17 starts for the Dodgers on the year, posting a 2.62 ERA while striking out 80 batters through 106.2 innings pitched.

His last start came against the Philadelphia Phillies, and he held them to just one earned run through 6.1 innings pitched while striking out seven batters.

The Dodgers have their best team out there for the first game of the series, starting off with MVP favorite Shohei Ohtani as their designated hitter. Center fielder Andy Pages remains behind him, followed by first baseman Freddie Freeman.

Third baseman Max Muncy bats cleanup, followed by shortstop Mookie Betts in the No. 5 spot. Tommy Edman plays second base and will bat sixth, with right fielder Kyle Tucker batting seventh. Left fielder Teoscar Hernández will bat eighth, and catcher Dalton Rushing rounds out the lineup.

Right-hander Luis Castillo takes the mound for the Mariners in the series opener, and will look to get his series on track. He currently has a career-worst 4.85 ERA through 19 appearances this year, and has a negative bWAR.

Castillo historially performs well against the Dodgers, but hasn’t faced them since 2022. He has a 2.83 ERA and a 3-0 record against Los Angeles in his career.

The Dodgers will look to change their luck against the right hander in the first game of the series, which comes Tuesday at 7:10 p.m. PT.
