Did Brandon Aiyuk buy home near Commanders' facility?

The San Francisco 49ers are scheduled to report to training camp on Saturday. That means we could see some finality in the Brandon Aiyuk situation. Of course, Aiyuk has been on record as saying he will not work with the 49ers, even to secure his release, if it means doing any kind of business with them.

So, if Aiyuk does not report this weekend, San Francisco can continue to keep him on the Reserve/Left Squad list. The 49ers are under no pressure to do anything as long as Aiyuk stays away from the team. Meanwhile, Aiyuk continues to make moves to secure his future, leaving no doubt about where he hopes to play.

On Thursday, Aiyuk shared on social media that he had bought a home in Northern Virginia. Virginia, of course, is where the Washington Commanders‘ headquarters are located. Aiyuk has repeatedly said he plans to play for Washington, where his former college teammate, Jayden Daniels, plays, and has even worn Commanders gear on multiple occasions.

Brandon Aiyuk has revealed that he has purchased a home in Northern Virginia.

Loudoun County is also where #Commanders Headquarters is located.

Here’s the caption on Aiyuk’s Instagram post: “Brandon Aiyuk acquires $10M Loudon County (VA) Estate.”

Ashburn, Virginia, is in Loudoun County. It’s unclear whether Aiyuk purchased a home in Virginia, or if this is another case of him trolling everyone on social media.

This is not the first time Aiyuk has posted images on social media, tagging Virginia as the location.

Even if Aiyuk were to report to the 49ers and secure his release, there’s no guarantee the Commanders would be interested. A couple of weeks ago, Aiyuk even took aim at Daniels, his close friend. Then, multiple NFL insiders, including Adam Schefter, have stated that while Washington would have been interested in Aiyuk before his summer social media antics, that interest appears to have cooled.

This saga doesn’t appear to have an end in sight. If Aiyuk shocks everyone and shows up for 49ers’ training camp, then things could change. Until then, we’ll just have to settle for Aiyuk’s Instagram updates.
