Deion Sanders spent much of his early years at Colorado leaning on the transfer portal to stock the roster. That strategy delivered results in 2023 and 2024, butthe 2025 season ended 3-9 and exposed the limits of portal-first roster building. Sanders responded by shifting more resources toward high school recruiting, and the 2027 class is where that shift is paying off most visibly right now.
Four-star quarterback Andre Adams from Antioch, Tennessee, committed to Colorado on April 14, 2026. He held 24 FBS offers, including from Oregon, Auburn, and Arkansas, before choosing the Buffaloes. His commitment moved Colorado from 76th to 58th in the national 2027 class rankings. Adams threw for 1,435 yards and 12 touchdowns in just seven starts as a high school sophomore, then improved significantly as a junior.
On June 7, Colorado reporter Scott Procter shared a professional studio image featuring all three players, with Adams and Lindsay pictured as commits alongside 2027RB prospect Steven Alexis. The photo, shot in Colorado uniforms with dramatic studio lighting, drew immediate attention from Buffs fans and recruiting circles.

Jaiden Lindsay is a three-star offensive lineman from Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Olney, Maryland. Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 275 pounds, he holds 14 FBS offers, including from Penn State and Kentucky.Lindsay took an unofficial visit to Boulder in April and officially visited on June 5, with Maryland receiving his second official visit on June 19.
After his April unofficial visit, Lindsay shared his honest reaction to Boulder. “This was my first time in Colorado, so seeing the city was cool,” Lindsay said. “I liked the nature and all the mountains and stuff.” He also noted what he wants in a program. “I want to go to a team where they all love each other and have a great culture and great coaches,” he said.
Meanwhile, Steven Alexis, a 6-foot, 203-pound 2027 RB from St. Petersburg, Florida, has not committed and remains a target Colorado is actively pursuing. Adams, already committed, has been recruiting other prospects on social media, posting with four-star OT commit Li’Marcus Jones and tagging other targets to push them toward Boulder.
Why Colorado’s offensive line recruitment in 2027 matters more than previous cycles
The Buffaloes allowed 38 sacks and averaged just 125.6 rushing yards per game in 2025,their worst season since Deion Sanders’ arrival in Boulder. Sanders addressed the immediate problem through the transfer portal, adding SEC and Big Ten transfers to the line for 2026.
Lindsay’s commitment is the longer-term answer, giving Colorado a home-grown lineman developing through their system rather than arriving at the end of his development.
Adams also fits into a clearly structured quarterback plan. Current starter Julian Lewis, a five-star from Carrollton, Georgia, is entering his redshirt sophomore season in 2026.Adams is expected to serve as Lewis’s successor, giving Colorado continuity at quarterback for at least four years. That kind of planned depth at QB is new for a program that has relied on transfers at the position in recent cycles.
Sanders publicly stated his recruiting philosophy upon arriving at Colorado. “When we recruit, we recruit character,” Sanders told CBS Colorado. “We recruit smart, tough, fast, disciplined young men.” The 2027 class reflects that standard. Colorado now has nine commits from nine different states, and Adams is actively working to add more. Whether Alexis eventually joins them will say a great deal about how far the Buffaloes’ national reach now extends.
