Dangote Refinery boosts petrol supply to 35.9m litres daily as fuel imports drop 26%

Dangote Refinery’s premium motor spirit, PMS daily receipt to Nigeria’s domestic market surged to 35.9 million litres per day in August, as imports dropped significantly to 14.6 million litres per day.

This is according to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority’s, NMDPRA August factsheet released on Thursday.

According to NMDPRA’s data, Dangote Refinery’s petrol receipt to the Nigerian market increased by 39 percent in August from 25.8 million litres per day in July.

Similarly, crude receipt at Dangote Refinery rose by 17 percent to 0.683 million barrels per day in August from 0.585 million barrels per day recorded in July.

In contrast, fuel imports dropped by 26 percent during the period under review, from 19.7 million litres per day recorded in the previous month.

This development comes at a time when NMDPRA’s data showed that PMS consumption in Nigeria dropped by 14 percent to 41.5 million litres per day from 48.3 million litres per day.
