Dangote: MRS filling stations shut for seven days amid fuel price hike

Dangote Refinery’s partner, MRS filling stations, have been shut for at least seven days amid the recent fuel price hike.

Checks by DAILY POST showed that MRS filling stations in Abuja and its environs have been without Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) supply since July 17, 2026.

A manager at an MRS filling station, who preferred anonymity, confirmed the development to DAILY POST on Friday.

“We have not had fuel supply since last Thursday. However, we hope to get supply today (Friday) following the resumption of Dangote Refinery’s gantry sales in naira,” he told DAILY POST.

Recall that Dangote Refinery suspended its petrol gantry sales in naira on July 15, 2026. However, the refinery resumed the sale of petrol in naira on Thursday at N1,215 per litre from N1,175.

Dangote Refinery’s decision to resume the sale of refined petroleum products in naira has eased uncertainty within the country’s downstream petroleum sector.

Already, depot owners and marketers have raised petrol prices at least twice in the last seven days, DAILY POST reports.

Currently, the retail price of petrol stands at N1,300 per litre and N1,340 per litre in parts of Abuja.
