Cincinnati Reds outfielder Dane Myers went back and forth on social media in a heated exchange with ex-Reds OF Tommy Pham over Myers’ costly fly-ball drop in the ninth inning of a loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.
“What’s going on is we have cf’s today who know the value of stealing catches to help their ooa numbers go up bcuz it improves your war so you have this, a game that is lost bcuz the cf didn’t want the lf to catch the ball bcuz he wanted the points,” Pham tweeted.
“A ten year vet, decent one at that, a ‘brother’ calling me selfish. You are talking like an average fan man, you spent all that time in big leagues you should know/remember there’s more to a play than what just appears on the screen … that being said play still has to be made,” Myers replied.
“Like I’ve never played in cincy you can add this to your column than @danemyers3,” Pham replied.
“Sticking with selfish still? Even after a mutual told you that’s not who I am? I’m 30 about to enter first year of arb I’m never getting a big bag, I don’t care about extra .1 oaa, I play to win, quit playing with my name and character. You sound dumb. You’re a wack ‘OG’ to me,” Myers added in a tweet.
“What mutual you referring to the mutuals I talked to said your a child and they are tired of you, if I screenshot the text I’ll really embarrass you you a lame plain and simple,” Pham tweeted.
“Screenshot it og, nah a lame is someone who blames at bats on bad pair of contacts, a lame would be someone telling a whole house party they should be on him because he was top in war previous season. This couldn’t be you … right?” Myers replied.
“I hit better than you with bad vision at 38 your 30 and you have accumulated 1.2 fwar and 87 wrc going into arb that’s non tender territory your -7drs in cf your teammates, and trainers say your a cry baby and child and don’t respect you,” Pham tweeted.
“Exposing yourself for being lame bringing up stats. Drs is a broken metric, you talk like you were Willie Mays in the outfield … you had a good career Og be happy, don’t forget how hard the game is. I think you’re lying unless you posting screenshots like you said,” Myers added.
Myers is in his first season with the Reds. Pham played for the Reds for part of the 2022 season.
Pham’s time with the Reds was best known for his slap of then-Giants outfielder Joc Pederson before a game at Great American Ball Park over a disagreement about stashing a player on IR in a fantasy football league.
