The upcoming UFC Freedom 250 card taking place at the White House on June 15 is expected to be one of, if not the biggest event in UFC history.

The card is highlighted by an Ilia Topuria vs. Justin Gaethje main event to unify the lightweight championship, and Alex Pereira vs. Cyril Gane in the co-main event for the heavyweight championship, which was vacated after Jones was stripped of the belt following his UFC 309 win over Stipe Miocic when president Dana White claimed Jones had retired.

In the weeks since that happened, White has went on multiple rants about Jones being done with the UFC and having fought his last fight for the company despite Jones still being under contract.

Jones has since asked for his release, expressing a desire to fight former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou for Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions.

With there still being tension between White and Jones, the former didn’t hesitate to take a subtle jab at his former champion while speaking to Forbes about Pereira’s opportunity at the White House card.

“You got Pereira possibly winning his third world title,” White said. “If he wins the third world title that night, he jumps over Jon Jones and becomes the greatest of all-time.”

White’s remarks caught the attention of many on social media.

The 56-year-old White used to tell anyone who would listen that Jones was the pound-for-pound greatest combat sports athlete of all-time, famously stating that if Jones walked into a room with any person in the world (in a fight to the death) that Jones would always be the one walking out of the room.

But to White’s point, Pereira has a chance to accomplish something no fighter in UFC history ever has: win a championship in three different weight classes.

The 38-year-old Pereira beat former rival Israel Adesanya via TKO at UFC 281 back in 2022 to win the middleweight title. He then defeated Jiri Prochazka via TKO at UFC 295 in 2023 to win the light heavyweight title.
