The Marseille midfielder, and twin of Arsenal’s Jurrien Timber, is attracting interest as Palace weigh up their midfield options.

Crystal Palace have reportedly opened talks regarding a move for Quinten Timber, the twin brother of Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber, as the Premier League club look to strengthen their midfield before the transfer window closes.

The twins, born in Utrecht on 17 June 2001, began their football journeys together at DVSU before moving to Feyenoord and then joining Ajax‘s academy in 2014.

Their careers diverged in 2021 when Quinten left for Utrecht, before returning to Feyenoord a year later. Jurrien remained at Ajax until his move to Arsenal in 2023.

Unlike his brother, who has established himself as a defender, Quinten is a central midfielder, usually operating as a dynamic box-to-box number eight.

The 25-year-old Netherlands international joined Marseille from Feyenoord in January after a falling out with ex-Arsenal snake Robin van Persie and made 16 appearances during the second half of last season.

With a long-term contract in France, Marseille are understood to value him at around €22 million.

Reports originating in France claim Crystal Palace have included Quinten Timber on a shortlist of midfield targets, alongside Kevin Danois of Auxerre.

The reports do not suggest Palace have submitted a bid at this stage.

There is also competition for his signature. Porto are reported to have held talks over a potential move and could be prepared to offer between €15 million and €18 million, although that remains below Marseille’s reported valuation.

The reports also add that Timber would favour a move to the Premier League, but for now Crystal Palace’s interest appears to be at an exploratory stage.

Quinten was briefly linked with a move to Arsenal in 2024 but it never seemed to get beyond the wild imaginings of football journalists.

Jurrien and Quinten also have another football-playing brother – Dylan, 26, who plays for MVV Maastricht.
