The Washington Commanders have already been hit with the injury bug so far in 2026, and they are off to a 1-3 start as a result. The biggest injury of them all in Washington is to star quarterback Jayden Daniels, who dislocated his elbow once again in Week 2 and has missed the last two games as a result.
Daniels is now back at Commanders practice and looks like he will be able to make his return in Week 5 against the New York Giants. The former No. 2 overall pick will have to play with an elbow brace on, but having him back will be a big boost especially with backup Marcus Mariota now out with a knee sprain.
Unfortunately, Daniels might be without his top two weapons on Sunday when he does make his return. Standout receivers Terry McLaurin and Stefon Diggs both missed practice with injuries on Wednesday, putting their availability in doubt for Sunday.

Both McLaurin and Diggs are dealing with hamstring injuries, which can be tricky. There’s still a lot of season left in front of the Commanders, so they may not want to push it especially against a beatable Giants team that has quarterback injuries of its own to manage.
Diggs has 170 yards on 18 catches with three touchdowns so far this season, all of which lead the team. McLaurin has only played in three of the four games this season and has just 10 catches on 22 targets for 141 yards and a score.
Part of those tame numbers can be boiled down to a quarterback situation that has been one of the worst in football with Daniels sidelined. Mariota went down in London in Week 4, leaving Athan Kaliakmanis as the lone QB left to play under center.
With Daniels back, opportunities for both Diggs and McLaurin should continue to increase if they are able to go against a Giants secondary that can be gettable at times. The status of both will be something to watch throughout the week as Sunday approaches.
