Colts’ Germaine Pratt ready to ‘elevate the room’ after return

Germaine Pratt found some joy back at NC State while waiting for his next NFL team.

He wants to now bring that experience into the Indianapolis Colts’ linebacker room.

Pratt returned Tuesday, signing with the practice squad after starting 12 games for Indianapolis last season. And his role with the Colts starts with helping the players around him.

“Obviously going back to college and being around them young guys, seeing how much joy they brought me, being around my old head coach, it was great,” Pratt said, per Jake Arthur of Roundtable.io. “I’ll be ready when my opportunity comes. Help guys and be the best teammate I can be. That’s my job. Elevate the room.”

Pratt knows defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo’s system from their time together in Cincinnati and Indianapolis. He recorded 101 tackles, five tackles for loss, and an interception with the Colts last season.

“Last year I came in, and I was stable. … Being in this system for so long, that’s all I know.”

That familiarity gives Pratt a sturdy foundation as he works toward an opportunity to get back on the field. At the moment, he’s embracing how he can contribute on the practice squad.
