Texas A&M’s baseball program has produced a long list of active MLB players, which will now include former star outfielder Braden Montgomery, who has been tearing it up in Triple-A and is the 33rd-ranked prospect in Baseball America’s Top 100. As the 12th overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, it’s now clear that Montogermy has earned his minor league stripes and is ready to make his MLB debut.
At just 23 years of age, Braden Montgomery took full advantage of his 56 games and 258 plate appearances in both Double and Triple-A, producing an impressive .314/.422/.548 slash line, paired with 10 homers, 13 doubles, three triples, five steals in eleven attempts on the year.
After transferring from Stanford before the Aggies’ historic 2024 season, which also served as coach Jim Schlossnagle’s final year at the helm, Montgomery, paired with Jace LaViolette and one of the best pitching lineups in the country, helped lead Texas A&M to its first appearance in the College World Series finals, batting .322 with 27 home runs and 85 RBI in 61 games.
However, his season-ending injury against Oregon in the Super Regional Round heavily contributed to Texas A&M losing two of three games against Tennessee, further proving Montgomery’s stark impact, which will now be witnessed at the highest level baseball has to offer.
