Jordan Henderson has left Brentford by mutual consent ahead of his imminent transfer to Chelsea this summer.
The 36-year-old spent one season with the Bees, making 34 appearances across all competitions under Keith Andrews, but is now set to join Chelsea on a free transfer.
Henderson directly contributed to four goals (one goal, three assists) upon his return to the Premier League, which came two years after he left Liverpool.
The midfielder’s last game for Brentford came at Anfield, while he played one game at this summer’s World Cup for England before breaking his arm.
“I leave Brentford with a lot of gratitude for the opportunity the club gave me, and for the support and care shown to me and my family from day one,” Henderson told the club website.

“Coming back to the Premier League was really important to me, and Brentford gave me that chance. I’ll always be thankful for that.
“I hope I was able to play my part in helping the team through an important period for the club. We achieved a lot together last season, and it’s something everyone involved should be proud of.
“Brentford is a special football club. It’s ambitious, progressive and full of good people. From the owners and leadership, to the coaching staff, the players and everyone behind the scenes, it’s been a privilege to be part of it.”
Henderson will add experience to a youthful Chelsea side, while former Sunderland team-mate Danny Welbeck is also set to join the Blues.
Chelsea have not given a single minute to a player over the age of 30 in any of their last 123 matches in all competitions, since 39-year-old Thiago Silva’s last appearance in May 2024.
