MONACO (AP) — Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc has become a father, he and his wife Alexandra posted on social media Wednesday.
The Leclercs said, in a post which drew messages of congratulations from McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Alpine’s Pierre Gasly, that their daughter was born on Tuesday.
The next Formula 1 race is Sunday’s Sao Paulo Grand Prix in Brazil. Leclerc has reportedly said previously that he would aim to spend as much time as possible at home when his child was born, but that he would try not to miss any races.
Leclerc is fifth in the F1 standings, with one win this season at the British Grand Prix.
