Chad Tracy is on a historic start to his time as the Boston Red Sox manager, a pace that fans haven’t seen since the opening of Fenway Park in 1912.

Tracy is going through the first year of his head coaching career in the majors with the Red Sox. He replaced Alex Cora following a poor start to the 2026 season, bringing Boston back up to speed.

It took some time for the team to get things going, being at the bottom of the AL East Division standings at some points. Despite this, the Red Sox came together to ignite an incredible stretch of performances, returning to the playoff picture.

Tracy has done well in this process, coaching Boston to tie its longest win streak in franchise history with 15 straight wins. His incredible pace ended up placing him second behind Jake Stahl when it comes to higher win percentage in franchise history so far, per reporter Peter Abraham. Stahl represented Boston from 1912 to 1913, the first years of Fenway Park being active.

“Chad Tracy is 54-35 (.607) as manager. Only Jake Stahl (.621) has a higher winning percentage in Red Sox history. He was 144-88 from 1912-13,” Abraham wrote.

How Chad Tracy, Red Sox performed against Athletics

Chad Tracy has the Red Sox on a great pace to make the playoffs with less than two months to go. However, they ended their latest series with a 4-3 loss to the Athletics.

Boston got off to a decent start as it led 3-2 after five innings and maintained the lead throughout the sixth and seventh frames. However, they couldn’t hold off the Athletics as the visitors scored the last two runs of the game in the final two innings.

Boston fell to a 64-53 record on the season, sitting at third place in the AL East Division standings. They are above the Baltimore Orioles and the Toronto Blue Jays while trailing the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Red Sox will look to bounce back in their next series, being on the road. They take on the Blue Jays as Game 1 commences on Aug. 10 at 7:07 p.m. ET.
