CBS Sports launches new digital series with Russell Wilson, Kyle Long

Russell Wilson and Kyle Long are getting a show of their own on CBS’s digital platforms.

The network announced Set, Hut!, a new weekly series hosted by the two NFL Today analysts, premiering Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 2 p.m. ET. The show will stream live on the NFL on CBS YouTube channel, with episodes also available on Paramount+, CBS Sports HQ, and podcast platforms.

Per CBS, Set, Hut! will feature guest interviews, insight and analysis on the league’s biggest topics, and real-time interaction with fans.

It’s the second time this month alone that a network has spun a standalone digital show off its NFL pregame roster, part of a broader scramble among the league’s broadcast partners to build out original, non-linear content for platforms like YouTube and their own streaming apps. Earlier this month, Fox launched The Gronk & Jules Show, pairing former Patriots teammates and current podcast co-hosts Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman for a twice-weekly series.

Wilson and Long joined CBS’s flagship pregame show this past June.

Wilson is the brand new star attraction after announcing his retirement from the NFL. After weighing up a decision whether to sign a reported offer to back up Geno Smith with the New York Jets or begin a career in the media, the former Super Bowl champion chose to begin his second career in broadcasting. Wilson was highly sought after given his star power and profile as a top quarterback in the game for a number of years with the Seahawks. Although his career probably didn’t end the way anyone expected after his tumultuous time in Denver and stops in Pittsburgh and New York, the CBS role gives him a fresh start and the chance to build something new.

Kyle Long took a different route to The NFL Today as a former offensive lineman, which isn’t the traditional path to top media jobs in football unless your last name is Kelce or Madden. A first-round pick and three-time Pro Bowl guard across seven seasons with the Chicago Bears before a knee injury forced his retirement, Long spent years earning his stripes through CBS Sports Network, Paramount+’s That Other Pregame Show, The NFL Today+, and a postseason fill-in stint alongside Kirk Cousins on the main set last year before finally locking down a permanent seat. Long’s father, Pro Football Hall of Famer Howie Long, has anchored rival Fox NFL Sunday‘s desk since the show’s 1994 inception.

The June hires restored The NFL Today to a full four-analyst rotation for the first time in two years, joining host James Brown, Nate Burleson, and Bill Cowher. Wilson and Long filled the chairs left by Matt Ryan, who departed in January to become the Atlanta Falcons’ team president, and by J.J. Watt, whose seat had sat vacant since he left the desk after the 2024 season to join Ian Eagle in the CBS broadcast booth.

There was little fanfare around their actual on-air debut this past Sunday, either. All the attention that weekend went to Watt and Ross Tucker, who moved up to the No. 1 and No. 2 broadcast booths, respectively, in the wake of Tony Romo’s own exit from the network. Wilson and Long’s first Sunday behind the NFL Today desk — from Minneapolis — came and went largely unremarked upon by comparison.
