Cast your vote for The Gardner News Lacrosse Player of the Year

The Gardner News recapped the spring season and took a look at the top players from each team that helped make an impact on the field.

Check out the nominees for Lacrosse Player of the Year and vote for who you think deserves the honor. Since there are only two Gardner-area schools that have lacrosse teams, rather than two separate votes this poll encompasses both boys and girls nominees.

Reader votes will make up 25% of the tally, with Sports Reporter Cait Kemp making up the rest of the vote.

The poll will run until July 3 at noon.

Allain was once again a force for the Bulldogs in his junior season. He was one of the top scorers on the field, helping to create offensive opportunities.

Buckley served as a captain and was a leader for the Spartans since his sophomore season. He finished his career with over 220 points and over 150 goals. This season, Buckley was named a Mid-Wach B All Star, Central Mass. Coaches All Star and had 64 goals and 21 assists.

Duval was the Spartans’ goalie this season, collecting 177 saves in the position.

Oakmont lacrosse continues program build despite playoff exit

Gelinas was one of two Oakmont girls lacrosse players to reach 100 career goals this season. She ended with 48 goals and 19 assists for her junior year.

LaPrade capped her high school lacrosse career with a milestone, reaching 100 goals in one of the Spartans final games. She ended the season with 39 goals and 17 assists after serving as a captain and leader for the team.

LeBlanc was a junior captain for the Spartans. She had 52 goals and 15 assists this season.

As a junior, Nally reached 200 career points and finished with 56 goals and 45 assists this spring. He was named a Mid-Wach B All Star and Central Mass. Coaches All Star for his contributions on the field.

Senior pitcher leads Gardner High baseball to historic playoff win

Norris was Oakmont’s go-to face-off guy for practically his whole career, and he proved that once again this spring. He finished his senior season with 258 face-off wins, stretching his career total to over 800. He also had 48 goals and 12 assists this season.

Roy was a star for the Spartans this season, finishing with 108 ground balls, 57 caused turnovers, nine goals and 11 assists. He was named a USA All-American, Mid-Wach B League MVP and Central Mass. Coaches All Star.
