Hello CSR! Welcome to Brian Answers, part two of your weekly Panthers fan mailbag for everyone! Another week down in the slow part of the off-season, can you believe the Panthers first preseason game is only a month away? As we dive into our July 4th weekend, we tackled another week with some fantastic discussion. Come enjoy some great discussion before you fire up those grills, and stay cool in this absolutely HOT time of year.
schrodingersblackcat: What is the best meal that can be ordered at a fast food restaurant?
I went ahead and linked your question because there were tons of great answers to it from fellow commenters. There are so many options out there these days that its hard to pin one down as the best, and geography matters as well. We don’t have In-N-Out in my neck of the woods, there’s a few Bojangles in the northeast but I feel the experience is different depending on what part of the country you’re in. So I’m going to go with nostalgia answers on this one.
White Castle, there’s just nothing like the journey to go find one with friends. I made several treks to the one in Toms River in NJ, and the food made it worth the journey every time. I know, White Castle isn’t everyone’s cup of tea and I’m sure many of the comments in the link above will have answers that are likely more fitting to the question, but that’s all the fun!
For a past meal, the Arby’s Roastburger was one of my favorite sandwiches. It was their traditional roast beef with burger toppings essentially. Maybe it remains a fond memory because it was released in my graduation years of high school, where I made many friends I still know to this day, maybe its because it was just a darn good sandwich. I linked your question as well, because the answers from the CSR crowd were fun! I can’t say who is the best for sure, but I know I am not even in the conversation. I’m barely competent on the driving range let alone for an actual golf game. But I will destroy all of you in Super Smash Bros, doesn’t matter which edition you want to try me in.
Bruce Guild: Can a QB wear any number?
It doesn’t seem like there’s any limits on numbers now that players can wear the number zero, so I don’t believe there would be any issue picking number 99 or others. I think I’d love to see a QB do something weird, like 43 or 37.

- 1970-1990: Seinfeld and The Simpsons. Just classic.
- 1990-2000: That 70’s Show, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and King of the Hill. No, I’m not naming Friends and you can’t make me.
- 2000-2010: How I Met Your Mother will always have a special place in my heart. I thought the ending made sense, sorry not sorry.
- 2010-now: Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia is just so darn good as well.

The comments section after successfully predicting a savvy veteran makes the Panthers roster over some UDFA hype train. And when Jalen Coker caught that go ahead TD in the playoff game against the Rams this past postseason. I know, those two ideas may conflict, but Jalen Coker earned my respect!
I also enjoy the feeling of making a fantasy football draft pick and the rest of the room saying “damn, that was a great pick, I wanted that guy”.

Real talk, I do hope to see King make the roster, if only to see what creative ways Dave Canales and Brad Idzik can work him into the offense. The Panthers need to pay back the Saints for all those years of pain from Franchise Quarterback Taysom Hill.
DeacCat: Panthers are +225 to make the playoffs. Putting on the green visor, is that bet likely a winner or a loser?
Do not ask me for betting advice when it comes to the Panthers. As I’ve often said, whenever I make a prediction with money on the line, I’m wrong when it comes to this team. That said, a first place schedule and an always chaotic NFC South would make me pause before putting money on the playoffs. So I’m sure I’ll see my receipts from CSR faithful in February after the Panthers make the Super Bowl.
Mozzie11: I know there is no definitive answer for this – more a point of discussion when not much else is happening:
In general owners want to win on the field but is it really at the top of the list? Most fans assume yes but at the end of the day a team/organization is a business that has required the owners to make an outsized investment into acquiring them. I would posit that the health of the NFL is first due to the nature of the setup, then the overall success of the team as a business and then actual success on the field follows (and for some like JJ in Dallas and his enjoyment of being GM and working with his family trumps winning on the field).
From seeing other business owners over the years, I think many of these owners see increasing the value of the team/brand as a game itself and maybe more so than the game on the field. Goals of the exec suite might not exactly match the goal of us fans ultimately.
I think the answer certainly depends on the owner, but I’ll answer this one mostly as a blanket question. I do think there’s a certain value to the owners as far as the franchise and team itself, but I do also believe there’s got to be value in making sure the team is successful as well. Remember, the Panthers had laughably cheap seats in the past few years when the on field path looked muddied and sad, which can’t be good for business no matter how focused on the dollars you are compared to the on-field product. So I do think the two ideas actually go hand in hand, in that you want fans to be engaged with the product, which will then lead to them spending money, often with consistency when your on field product is exciting/competitive. While I do agree that many owners may not care as much as fans do about winning, the two ideas certainly go hand in hand.
schrodingersblackcat: If you time-traveled to the year 3000 and the historians asked you to name only three artists or bands to define what Rock and Roll music was, which three would you name?
Again, linked the original question because the discussion below is an excellent look into the history of music and rock & roll.
I’ll go with Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles (even if I think they are overrated, go ahead and boo me), and Black Sabbath. But man, is it hard to condense that genre into just 3 artists. There’s so much lore and different styles that define that brand of music. Share in the comments your thoughts!
