Christian Pulisic has been on the end of some serious criticism after a quiet, injury-filled World Cup performance for the United States in 2026, and that’s included from former USWNT star Carli Lloyd.
After she said on Fox that “We didn’t see enough from him in this particular game and really, the whole World Cup,” she joined in on the chorus of folks who are mad at Pulisic for what he said after the loss to Belgium, a game he left with an injury: “I just twisted my ankle or just sprained my ankle. It’s just frustrating to end like that, of course. But now I get time to rest, so it’ll be OK.”
The “rest” comments didn’t sit well with anyone. And that included Lloyd, who had this to say on X (formerly Twitter):
“You rest when your playing career is over. Period.”
“You rest when your playing career is over. Period.”
She didn’t call out Pulisic by name, but that’s very obviously about his comments. And she’s far from the only one ripping him.
