Cardinals HC says that Arizona moved on 'quickly' from Kyler Murray

The Vikings signed quarterback Kyler Murray following his release from the Arizona Cardinals. He was drafted first overall by the team in 2019 after winning the Heisman Trophy in his final season at Oklahoma. He is now looking for a fresh start in Minnesota, but some parts of his time in Arizona are continuing to pop up.

The latest version of that was comments from new Arizona Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur. After the Hall of Fame game, he was asked about the team’s decision to move on from Murray shortly after he was hired.

LaFleur explained their process with Kyler Murray in Arizona once he arrived, stating, “I’d say pretty quickly. Once we made the decision that we were going to do that, the show goes on, and that’s quarterback all the way down to the punter to any coach. Like I’ve put on record, I think best for both parties, and so here we are.”

While the Cardinals have their own process to figure out with their quarterback, the Vikings have seemingly established theirs. The team named Kyler Murray the starter earlier this week after beating out former top pick J.J. McCarthy in camp.

They are hoping he can have a Sam Darnold-ish season for them as they look to bounce back from a disappointing 2025.
