Carabao Cup: Carrick names who to blame for Man Utd’s 3-2 defeat to Brighton

Manchester United manager, Michael Carrick, has said he is to blame for their collapse against Brighton in the Carabao Cup third round.

The Red Devils threw away a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Shea Lacey opened the scoring, before Mason Mount doubled United’s lead.

But Brighton fought back in the second half with goals from Charalampos Kostoulas, Pascal Gross and Maxim De Cuyper.

Carrick, speaking after the game, said: “There’s a number of things that we’ll look at, we’ll dissect.

“I know quite a bit of where it went wrong, but we can’t accept that. We can’t accept that as a group.

“I take responsibility for it. The performance towards the end of the second half.

“We’ve got a big game on Sunday that we need to prepare for. It doesn’t feel good at the moment. We want to win, and we want to win quickly. The next game is Sunday. That’s all I’m thinking about right now.”
