Candace Parker reacts to Caitlin Clark screaming at her during the playoffs
The Las Vegas Aces defeated the Indiana Fever and superstar point guard Caitlin Clark 2-1 in the first round of the WNBA playoffs. The star-laden series, and Game 2 in particular, was not lacking in tense moments, with reigning WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson getting into a heated exchange with an Indiana fan in the fourth quarter, and Clark getting emotional after a clutch three, yelling, “F*ck you think this was!” at Prime Video analyst Candace Parker.
“I don’t know what Caitlin Clark just said, but whatever hyped her up,” Parker said on the broadcast immediately after the moment. “That was a big shot right there.”
Clark and Parker laughed about the exchange after the game, with cameras appearing to catch the Fever point guard telling Parker, “I blacked out.”
On Wednesday’s episode of Post Moves podcast, which Parker co-hosts with Clark’s teammate Aaliyah Boston, the three-time WNBA Finals champion addressed the viral moment in good fun.
“Part of the game that I was confused about—which I really like because I remember, and even now, watching players in the NBA and sitting next to some of the legends, like Steph Curry, I remember when he knocked down a shot and Reggie Miller was calling the game and he came over and was like, ‘You know, that’s what I (d0),’ you know, type of thing. So it was cool—but I was just minding my business at the scores table. And Caitlin Clark just hit a big three, and then…”
“Cause what you thought this was, Candace?” Boston joked.
“Did she say ‘What you thought this was?'” Parker asked. “Or did she say, ‘What the fck did you think this was?’ I think she said, ‘What the fck do you think this is?'”
“She did,” Boston confirmed, laughing.
Parker went on to clarify that she was all for the competitive energy, telling Boston that she used to play with the exact same kind of passion.
“I just kind of was like, ‘Yeah, like, great shot. Let’s keep it moving. I’m just sitting here minding my own business.’ But I love it. And it seems like there are certain players that get riled up and love the chaos.
“I was one of those players that was like, ‘Please talk mess to me, please point in my face, please do those things to get me angry.’ And so I just love this. I love the passion and all of that stuff.”
