Can Wisconsin back up Colton Joseph's bold offensive claim?

It doesn’t take a Wisconsin Badger aficionado to see that Luke Fickell’s Wisconsin squads have struggled to assert themselves as offensive powerhouses. Last season, the Badgers finished their 4-8 campaign with the third-worst scoring offense in the nation, scoring a paltry 12.8 points per game.However, after an offensive revamp that has seen a new starting quarterback, Colton Joseph, join the program, there has been a refresh button hit heading into a crucial season for Fickell.In a recent interview with the Big Ten Network, the Old Dominion transfer was asked what to expect from the Badgers’ 2026 offense. 

“Explosiveness, I think we’re going to be explosive. Big plays down the field, big runs, big passes, all of it, and we’re going to score a lot of points,” Joseph said.

“Explosiveness. . . . We’re gonna score a lot of points.”

In 2025, Joseph was a key part of what was measured as the nation’s 30th-best scoring offense with the Old Dominion Monarchs, which averaged 30.2 points, along with a stellar 447.3 yards per game. If Joseph can settle in quickly and second-year offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes can steady the offense, then there is no reason why this Wisconsin side can’t make it to Fickell’s second bowl, but if the Badgers take one too many missteps, then the future could be bleak.
