Former Blue Devil Cameron Boozer made his debut for the Memphis Grizzlies Saturday, scoring 15 points in a blowout win against the Oklahoma City Thunder and recent No. 12 overall pick Aday Mara.
Following the game, Boozer was asked about becoming a centerpiece in Memphis following the 2026 NBA Draft and the Ja Morant trade. As usual, Boozer had a determined response, saying, “I think that’s a responsibility that I’ve had my whole career. But the first thing you have to do is show up and show you deserve that. That takes work. That takes showing up every day and doing the right things.”
Hearing this shouldn’t come as a surprise to Duke fans and should satisfy Grizzlies supporters, as Boozer has proven himself a winner at every level he’s played, and his determination to win in the NBA is clearly evident. If Boozer’s performances match his attitude, he’ll certainly prove that he deserves to be a centerpiece for a rebuilding franchise like Memphis.
