Caitlin Clark did not merely reach another scoring milestone Tuesday night. She arrived there faster and with a more complete résumé than anyone before her.

Clark scored the 1,600th point of her WNBA career during the Indiana Fever‘s 106-92 victory over the New York Liberty at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. She finished with 22 points, 10 assists and four rebounds as Indiana earned its second consecutive win and improved to 21-12.

The Fever star entered the game with 1,589 career points. With 5:50 remaining in the second quarter, Clark created space against two-time MVP Breanna Stewart and buried a 28-foot 3-pointer to reach the milestone.

That basket gave Clark 11 points for the night and moved her into an exclusive group of WNBA stars.

It also made history in more than one way.

Clark needed only 82 career games to reach 1,600 points, tying Stewart as the fifth-fastest player in WNBA history to reach the mark. Only four players accomplished it in fewer appearances.

Houston Comets legend Cynthia Cooper-Dyke owns the record after scoring her 1,600th point in her 72nd game. Seimone Augustus reached the milestone in 73 games, while Elena Delle Donne and Arike Ogunbowale each needed 80.

Clark reaching the mark in the same game in which she faced Stewart added an appropriate twist. Her deep 3-pointer came with Stewart defending her, allowing Clark to tie the Liberty star’s pace directly against her.

The milestone also provided another reminder of Clark’s historic scoring ability. She reached 1,000 career points in only 53 games and has continued climbing the league’s scoring lists despite missing time with injuries during her first three seasons.

Her offensive value, however, extends well beyond scoring.

Clark smashes Sabrina Ionescu’s all-around record

Clark entered Tuesday’s game with 402 rebounds and 680 assists in her career. By reaching 1,600 points, she became the fastest player in WNBA history to accumulate at least 1,600 points, 400 rebounds and 600 assists.

It was not a particularly close race.

New York guard Sabrina Ionescu previously held the record after reaching all three marks in 102 games. Clark completed the feat in 82, beating Ionescu’s standard by 20 games. Cooper-Dyke needed 124 appearances to achieve the statistical combination. Shannon Johnson reached it in 130 games, while WNBA legend Sue Bird required 139.

The record captures what has made Clark such a transformative player. Her shooting range receives much of the attention, but she also has been one of the league’s most productive passers from the moment she arrived. Her ability to rebound from the guard position gives Indiana another way to begin its transition offense.

Clark did all three against New York.

She scored efficiently, created opportunities for her teammates and recorded another double-double against one of the league’s most talented rosters.

Fever stars overwhelm Liberty

Clark’s milestone came during one of Indiana’s strongest offensive performances of the season. Kelsey Mitchell led the Fever with 28 points on 11-of-16 shooting. She scored 21 in the first half, helping Indiana take control before the break.

Clark complemented Mitchell by shooting 7-of-15 from the field and repeatedly breaking down New York’s defense. Her 10 assists helped the Fever surpass 100 points and secure a convincing victory over a potential playoff opponent.

The win moved Indiana ahead of the Atlanta Dream in the standings, while New York dropped to 20-14.

It also continued a strong stretch for the Fever, who defeated the Chicago Sky 90-86 in their previous game. Indiana has developed into one of the league’s most dangerous offensive teams and continues to build momentum ahead of the postseason.

Clark and the Fever will return to action Friday against the Dallas Wings at 7:30 p.m. ET in Indianapolis.

She will enter that matchup with another record already secured.

Clark has spent her WNBA career reaching milestones faster than nearly everyone who came before her. This time, she did something no player in league history had ever accomplished at her pace.
