Caitlin Clark dazzled during a record-setting debut performance with USA Basketball on Friday morning. During Team USA’s 94-61 victory over China in Berlin, Germany, Clark finished with 14 points on 4 of 9 shooting, including 3 of 7 from 3-point range.
But, it was Clark’s passing that rewrote the record books. Clark registered a double-double, dishing out 11 assists. Clark’s 11 assists were the most by a USA player in their World Cup debut, surpassing Alyssa Thomas’ nine assists against Belgium in 2022.
Clark also had zero turnovers, becoming the first first player in the Women’s World Cup to record at least 10 assists without a single turnover. Clark is also now one of only eight players to record more than 10 assists in a Women’s World Cup game since the statistic was officially recorded in 1994.
Clark’s 11 assists were the most by a USA player since Dawn Staley’s 12 helpers against Russia in 1998. Clark was the first USA player with 10 or more assists in a World Cup game since Staley.

As a result of her performance, Clark was named both the Team USA and TCL Player of the Game.
