Buffalo Bills Fans Face Eye-Popping Food and Beer Prices at New $2.1 Billion Stadium

Buffalo Bills fans had plenty to take in as the team kicked off a new era at Highmark Stadium, but the action on the field wasn’t the only thing getting their attention.

Fans were met with some eye-popping concession prices during the Bills’ Thursday, September 17, home opener against the Detroit Lions in Orchard Park, New York, according to an OutKick report published Friday, September 18.

Per the report, one couple’s $113 haul consisted of two beers, two coveted Bills souvenir beer horns, a bucket of popcorn and a personal pizza.

A domestic beer paired with one of the souvenir horns costs $30, and fans apparently weren’t scared off by the steep price. Some waited more than an hour just to get their hands on one.

And the sticker shock didn’t stop with the drinks. A souvenir bucket of popcorn was priced at $19, while dill pickle popcorn cost $10. Fans looking for something more substantial could pay $14 for pierogies, $14 for a sweet Italian sausage on a sub roll or $18 for an order of chicken wings.

But the Bills gave their fans plenty to celebrate once the action started.

Buffalo capped the historic night with a 41-31 victory over Detroit. Quarterback Josh Allen delivered a five-touchdown performance, throwing for three scores and rushing for two more to christen the Bills’ new home in winning fashion.

ESPN reported that Buffalo broke ground on the more than $2.1 billion stadium in May 2023. The new Highmark Stadium holds 60,108 fans — about 10,000 fewer than the Bills’ previous home — and features a natural grass field with underground heating coils, a massive snow-melt system and a 360-degree canopy covering 60 percent of the seating bowl to help combat Buffalo’s notoriously harsh weather.

The Bills’ last season ended in heartbreak with a playoff loss to the Denver Broncos on January 17. Allen, 30, broke down during a press conference afterward, saying, “I feel like I let my teammates down tonight,” and team owner Terry Pegula later said the loss and its emotional aftermath factored into his decision to fire longtime head coach Sean McDermott.

For Bills Mafia, the memorable night may have been worth the splurge.
