Bucky's Celebrity Softball Game returns June 9 with new and old participants

Jun. 1—BEMIDJI — Softball and shenanigans will take center stage on Tuesday, June 9, when Bucky’s Celebrity Softball Game steps back up to the plate.

The Bemidji State community event returns at 6 p.m. at the BSU Softball Field for its third annual installment and features old and new faces. Well-known alumni and friends from the Bemidji community will take part in the family-friendly event, which is the latest installment of the Community Appreciation Day series and is meant to show BSU’s gratitude for the community’s support of Bemidji State.

Additionally, giveaways and prizes will be up for grabs throughout the game, and all attendees will have the chance to enter for free.

Players’ skill levels promise to range from “just here for kicks” to “playing for MVP.” And although they’ll keep score, the primary mission is to have fun while showcasing the best of the Bemidji community.

The roster is as follows for the Green Sox: Morgan Benedict, Sydney Dick, Gwenia Fiskevold Gould, Ben Hoffman, Joy Hoffman, Joel Hoover, Kylan Seats, Travis Winter, Charlie Yaeger, Gary “Ziggy” Zerott and coach Kristen McRae.

The Whitecaps roster includes: Kyle Fodness, Micah Friez, Ashley Gomez, Marah Jacobson, Jacob Masek, Jared Rubado, Megan Steigauf, Harper Vogel, Joe Wegwerth, Samantha Whiting and coach Linda Newby.
