The Seattle Mariners beat the Detroit Tigers 4-0 on Saturday morning at Comerica Park, improving to 34-31 on the season. The win snapped a modest two-game losing streak for the Mariners and gives them an opportunity to clinch another series win on Sunday.
The M’s have won three straight series and 9 of their last 11 games. They are in first place in the American League West.
Offensively, the Mariners were paced by Dominic Canzone in this contest. He had an RBI double and a home run, while Randy Arozarena had a two-run double as well.
On the mound, Bryce Miller continued his excellent season, tossing six scoreless innings. He gave up just one hit and struck out nine.
As noted by Kristilyn Hetherington of the Mariners PR team, this is already the sixth time that a Mariners starter has gone six or more innings with one or fewer hits allowed. That’s the most such starts in baseball this season and it ties the most such starts in a season in Mariners history (also 2015 and 2023).

Since coming off the injured list in May, Miller has been outstanding, both as a starter and a piggyback reliever. He’s now 2-0 with an ERA of 1.33. His fastball was in the upper-90s early, and though he finished with it in the 95-96 mph range, it was still plenty good to mow down a Tigers team that had won four straight games.
After Miller, the M’s got scoreless innings from Jose Ferrer, Matt Brash and Gabe Speier. Each reliever did surrender a walk, but was able to work around the traffic.
The Mariners and Tigers will finish out the series on Sunday morning at 10:40 a.m. PT. Luis Castillo will make the start against Jack Flaherty.

–Pitching at Double-A Arkansas, top prospect Kade Anderson was brilliant again on Friday. He went five innings, giving up just one hit and no runs. He walked none and struck out nine. He hasn’t allowed a run in 15 straight innings and has a season ERA of 1.29.
And don’t forget about Mason Peters, who pitches each Friday night at Single-A Inland Empire. He also went five innings, giving up just one run on four hits. He walked none and struck out six. Through 10 starts, his ERA is 1.59.
