Bruno Fernandes to remain at Manchester United despite interest from Saudi Arabia
Bruno was courted by Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal but opted against a move. His stance on a long-term future at Man United has not changed, with the midfielder informing teammates and close friends that he wants to remain at the Theatre of Dreams. While United have the option to extend Bruno’s contract by another year, they are expected to accelerate talks over a new deal early next season to tie down one of, if not the biggest, creative forces in European football.
Bruno is currently on international duty, where he helped set up Cristiano Ronaldo’s second goal in Portugal’s 5-0 win over Uzbekistan. The result has put Roberto Martinez’s side within touching distance of a place in the knockout stages ahead of their final group game against Colombia. Meanwhile, United are working on midfield additions ahead of next season, but their pursuit of West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes has been complicated by interest from Tottenham Hotspur. United made Fernandes their prime target after a deal for Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson proved too expensive to pursue.
