LAS VEGAS – The Milwaukee Brewers close out what has been a wild and woolly road trip on Wednesday night, June 10 with a final interleague matchup against the A’s at Las Vegas Ballpark.

The Brewers start right-hander Brandon Sproat (1-4, 6.17) while the A’s send right-hander Jack Perkins (2-3, 6.19) to the mound.

41-24, first place in the NL Central.

In the first game in Las Vegas in 30 years, the Brewers and Athletics put on a show, combining for 29 runs, 34 hits and 11 home runs in a game that lasted 4 hours, 14 minutes. The Brewers rallied from down 8-3, 9-5 and 10-8 to force extra innings at 10-10 before the A’s also rallied from down 14-10 in the 10th inning. Two innings later, the Brewers finally secured the win.

Chourio scored three of the Brewers’ 15 runs.

The Athletics answered back with catcher Shea Langeliers’ solo home run to lead off the bottom of the first inning. Langeliers was 3 for 7 in the game.

Kyle Harrison had been nearly untouchable all season.

Then he came to Las Vegas Ballpark. Harrison hadn’t allowed more than two runs in a game in his previous 11 starts for the Brewers. He gave up eight in 2.1 innings, including three home runs.

With no outs in the top of the ninth inning, William Contreras scores on Andrew Vaughn’s two-RBI double that made the game 10-10.

Contreras had singled and Blake Perkins pinch ran for Jake Bauers, who walked. That set the stage for Vaughn’s big hit down the left field line. Vaughn finished 4 for 6 with four RBI. But he was stranded at second after the next three batters struck out.

With one out in the top of the 10th inning and the Brewers with an 11-10 lead after Jackson Chourio brought in David Hamilton, who began the inning at second base, William Contreras demolished the pitch that brought him to his knees for a three-run home run.

After the A’s got the score within three at 14-11, Kurtz hit a two-out, two-run home run to make the score, 14-13.

Pinch-hitter Jonah Heim followed up Kurtz’s home run with one of his own to tie the game at 14.

It was Heim’s third home run in his last five games played.

After Heim’s home run, Brewers manager Pat Murphy pulled Aaron Ashby, who gave up all four runs in the 10th inning after pitching a scoreless ninth inning.

Patrick closed the door, getting a final strikeout to get the save in the 15-14 victory. Brewers manager Pat Murphy called the game the most bizarre he’s ever been a part of in baseball.
