Brewers’ Pat Murphy had a ‘bizarre’ confession after unbelievable night against the Athletics

One of the wildest nights of the 2026 MLB season happened on Monday in a game involving the Milwaukee Brewers and the Athletics, who are hosting Pat Murphy’s team at Las Vegas Ballpark for a three-game series.

The start of that series turned out to be an unforgettable one, in large part because of the offense that was on display.

The game featured 11 home runs and 34 hits combined.

It also needed extra innings to get decided, with Brewers second baseman Brice Turang’s grounder and a bad throw by Athletics second baseman Jeff McNeil led to a 15-14 victory for Milwaukee.

The game left many in disbelief, including none other than Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy.

Brewers manager Murphy couldn’t believe the game against the A’s

Milwaukee trailed the host team by three runs entering the eighth inning but scored three riuns in the eighth and ninth innings to force and additional inning. In the 10th frame, Milwaukee went up by four runs in the top of the inning but the A’s responded with four runs in the bottom. The 11th inning saw both teams put up eggs on the board before the visiting Milwaukee side scored the game-winning run in the 12th frame.

“The most bizarre game I’ve ever had in Major League Baseball in 11 years,” the two-time National League Manager of the Year Award winner Murphy said after the game, via Adam McCalvy of Milwaukee’s official website. “I’ve never seen anything like it.”

At the end of the day, what mattered most for Milwaukee is the win. After starting their series against the A’s on a high note, the Brewers have extended their winning streak to four games, and they can keep that going this Tuesday, when they give the ball to Robert Gasser for the starting duties in Game 2 of the series.
