Brewers keep World Series celebration going with 'SNL' appearance

The victory celebration for the World Series champion Milwaukee Brewers lasted yet another day as the Commissioner’s Trophy made its way onto the stage at NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.”

Still basking in their five-game victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on the field and their raucous parade on Friday, Oct. 30, through the streets of Milwaukee, Brewers manager Pat Murphy, along with second baseman Brice Turang and designated hitter Christian Yelich, made a cameo appearance with “Weekend Update” host Colin Jost and Bobby Moynihan’s “drunk uncle” character.

“Hey, we have something in common, Drunk Uncle,” Turang told Mounihan. “We’ve also been drinking since Wednesday.”

Murphy chimed in, “I’m the manager. And that’s kinda like being the drunk uncle of the team.”

As the segment closed, Moynihan, who spent nine seasons on SNL from 2009 to 2017, made a passing reference to Yelich somewhat resembling another former SNL cast member, Pete Davidson. Which … OK, perhaps.

The Brewers set a franchise record with 103 wins during the regular season, then went 11-2 during the playoffs to secure the first World Series title in franchise history.
