Manager Pat Murphy‘s Milwaukee Brewers started off Game 1 of the NCLS with a Jacob Misiorowski warning shot to Tarik Skubal’s Dodgers, spicing things up in the early going. The Brewers had an interesting new role for Christian Yelich which allowed others to step up in his stead.

The Dodgers got on the board first with an Andy Pages RBI single before Brice Turang of Milwaukee stepped up to the plate for the equalizer against Skubal. Turang slugged his first home run of the postseason on Skubal’s 43rd pitch as the Brewers made it a 1-1 game.

Both Skubal and Misiorowski appeared “dominant and shaky” according to ESPN baseball writer Jeff Passan, as the game continued onward. The Brewers took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning as Luis Lara slammed a line drive off the pitcher’s mound and into the outfield for an RBI single. On a night when star players Skubal and Misiorowski took center stage, the bottom of the Brewers’ batting order delivered the biggest hit of the night headed toward the final innings.

Murphy said prior to the game that he has heeded the lessons from the 2025 postseason’s series loss to the Dodgers, while also predicting a big October season for Jackson Chourios, who delivered with a hit in three at-bats.

Misiorowski struck out five batters in 4.1 innings, continuing his dominance from the regular season into the postseason with Murphy’s team in search of its first ever World Series win and first World Series appearance since 1982. Things looked good for Milwaukee but the Dodgers are no stranger to comebacks. Fans remained on the edges of their seats as the game continued with a one-game series lead on the line.
