Texas Tech’s appeal to have former Cincinnati Bearcats quarterback Brendan Sorsby‘s eligibility reinstated was denied by the NCAA, according to multiple reports June 5.

Sorsby’s attorneys were seeking a temporary injunction allowing him to play for the Red Raiders in 2026 after the NCAA ruled him ineligible and denied his request for reinstatement.

Cleveland Browns head coach Todd Monken indicated June 2 that he wouldn’t be inclined to select Sorsby in the NFL’s supplemental draft, if Sorsby isn’t eligible to play college football.

Sorsby played the past two seasons for the Bearcats after spending his first two seasons at IU. Sorsby left UC for Texas Tech, which he chose over LSU.

Sorsby placed at least 40 bets involving IU football while QB for the Hoosiers, used sportsbook accounts registered to a family member and friends to wager approximately $90,000 over four years and continued to gamble after transferring from UC to Texas Tech, according to ESPN.
