BREAKING: Newcastle sign exciting Tonali replacement in £30m deal

Newcastle United have completed the signing of midfielder Aladji Bamba from Monaco.

The transfer has gone through for an initial fee of £30m, with a further £5.5m possible in add-ons.

The 20-year-old has signed a five-year contract at St James’ Park and will wear the club’s number eight shirt.

Head coach Eddie Howe described Bamba as a player with “huge potential for growth”, praising his development since breaking into Monaco’s first team and he was nominated for this year’s Golden Boy award as one of the best young talents in the game.

Bamba represents a direct replacement for Sandro Tonali, who departed for Tottenham Hotspur last month.
