Braves News: Hunter Stratton trade, rainout at Truist Park, and more

Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Hunter Stratton (65) celebrates defeating the Colorado Rockies

The Atlanta Braves announced late Thursday night that they have acquired catcher Joey Bart from the Pittsburgh Pirates. In exchange, the Pirates will receive right-hander Hunter Stratton. To make room on the roster, catcher Sandy León was designated for assignment.

Bart will be the eighth Braves catcher this season. A Buford native, Bart was drafted by the San Francisco Giants, where he spent parts of four seasons before heading to Pittsburgh. He has a career .240 batting average and has logged 2521.2 innings behind the plate.

He has been on the IL with a foot infection but should be ready to go to suit up for Atlanta.

Thursday’s series finale with the San Francisco Giants was postponed due to weather and will be made up in August.

David McCabe and Kevin Kilpatrick homered for the Columbus Clingstones on Wednesday. More in the minor league recap.

The Los Angeles Angels placed outfielder Mike Trout on the 10-day injured list with a hamstring injury.
