Brady House hits for cycle as Red Wings rout WooSox

Brady House went 4-for-5 and hit for the cycle to power the Rochester Red Wings to a 10-4 win over the Worcester Red Sox on Friday at Polar Park.

Rochester piled up 15 hits and reached double digits in runs for the second straight night.

House tripled in the first inning, doubled home Yohandy Morales in the third, hit a solo homer in the fifth and completed the cycle with a single in the ninth. It was the first cycle for the Red Wings since Michael Restovich accomplished the feat in 2004.

The Red Wings grabbed control with a two-run second inning, when Trey Lipscomb doubled Harry Ford to third and Joey Wiemer grounded out to bring in the tying run. Riley Adams then hit a go-ahead RBI double to left.

House’s RBI double in the third and his fifth-inning homer gave starter Luis Perales plenty of cushion.

Perales allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits over five innings, striking out four and walking five to earn his third win. Luke Young and Jack Sinclair combined for three scoreless innings of relief before Cole Henry and Paxton Schultz finished the ninth. Worcester managed just seven hits and went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position.

The Red Wings broke the game open with three late bursts. Cayden Wallace’s two-run homer in the seventh made it 6-2, Wiemer’s RBI single and Christian Franklin’s RBI knock in the eighth stretched the margin to 8-2 and Lipscomb’s RBI double followed by a wild pitch in the ninth pushed the lead to 10-2.

Tyler McDonough’s two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth provided Worcester’s final runs, but Rochester closed out its 52nd win and stayed atop the International League East.
